IETF Summer Week

Timeframe:

Backcasting from a mid-May registration

To Do!

  • Name & frame the week (Ideally DONE by May 6!) (Brainstorm in This GDoc)
    • Naming - Boris has a handwritten list, highlights of which have been transcribed into the GDoc linked above. T
    • Framing - unearthing the intersections of tech / arts / media / research, leveraging the presence of IETF being in town!
  • Plan location/vibe for afterparty Sat, July 27
  • Create a consolidated lu.ma calendar where people can add their events
    • Set up a subdomain at dwebyvr.org
  • Extend invitation to the network
    • Internet Access

What's confirmed:

  • Our Networks in 312 Main on Sat, July 27
  • The whole IETF event series; the conference is quite expensive, but the first Sat/Sun (codesprint) is quite open.

Other audiences

  • Interdisciplinary arts / tech / media / research

Other ideas

  • Get a (physical) badge for attending the week!

Event Ideas

coFood Collaborative Garden Dinners

To Do

  • Figure out a budget for snacks / hosting
  • Add dates to lu.ma for:
    • Sun, May
    • Sun, June 23
    • Sun, July 21 Kickoff the IETF Week
    • August OFF
    • Sun, Sept 15

Coworking

  • Retrospectively
    • The coworking morning sessions at The Permanent were not highly effective and are discontinued.
    • The afternoon sessions dovetailing into Tech Socials will continue.
  • Some interest in trying different spaces? Looking for at least one coworking lead
  • Maybe: look for a paid space to share?

Tech Socials

To Do

  • Book three more (One quarter at a time)
  • Call for content - e.g. another TFT (Tools for Thought)? (Powerpoint karaoke at Z Space?)

Going forward:

  • Charge for tickets and include food / drink?
  • Arrange around 'themes' to bring out people interested in specific content that's more specifically DWeb aligned than generic 'tech'?

Vancouver Hack Days

Recurring monthly rhythm, or every-other-month, would be awesome!

Dates in May? June? Venues? Content?

looking for volunteers
